About this event
[vc_row][vc_column width="2/3"][vc_column_text]Course description: This course provides an introduction to identity testing on-site and producer conformity testing for compressive strength using test cubes. The course provides practical guidance on the need for correct sampling, making, curing, and storing of test cubes as well as the significance of the test methods and the assessment of results, together with commentary on the effects non-standard practices can have upon reported results. For example: If cubes are stored in non-standard curing conditions it will impact the 28-day strength and lead to perfectly good concrete being deemed as in doubt. The course is designed for all those involved in carrying out testing of concrete on site. Learning outcomes: Delegates will gain an understanding of the practical aspects of concrete identity and conformity testing for compressive strength in accordance with BS EN 206 and BS 8500: Characteristic Strength How test specimens relate to the structure Sampling methods and rates Initial discharge Full (composite) sample Number of cube sets required per cubic metres of concrete supplied Test methods Cube manufacture Cube moulds Consistence/Air Content Storage and curing Initial storage Curing tanks Transportation Strength analysis Identity testing – user Conformity testing – producer Effects of non-standard procedures Following the course delegates will be able to: Understand the need for identity and conformity testing Explain the difference between the two testing requirements Understand the correct sampling, making, storing, and curing requirements Understand strength development Understand the effects non-standard procedures can have on reported results Who should attend: The course is designed for all those involved in concrete testing operations, such as Technicians, Supervisors, Section Engineers[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_column_text]Title: Concrete Testing - Compressive Strength Duration: 3 hours Date: Tuesday 19th May 2026 Time: 10.00am to 1pm, including a short break Location: Zoom – joining instructions will be provided following payment and at least 24 hours before the course[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] Recommended reference materials: Identity testing for strength in accordance with BS EN 206-1 and BS 8500-1, CA30, Concrete Society, 2015.
